Git says every file is modified, but I changed nothing

What just happened

Windows and macOS/Linux end lines differently, and some tools or a copy changed the executable bit. Git sees every line (or the file mode) as changed.

Potential risks

Committing it creates a giant diff that hides real changes and conflicts with everyone.

Find which kind
“old mode 100644 / new mode 100755” = permissions. Otherwise, line endings.

Line endings: fix them for good

A .gitattributes decides for everyone, then renormalise once.
